Donaire to use different training for Arce bout
Filipino Flash to use more combinations
MANILA, Philippines – World boxing champion Nonito Donaire Jr. plans to use a different training regimen for his fight against Mexican slugger Jorge Arce.
Donaire, the unified World Boxing Organization (WBO)-International Boxing federation (IBF) 122-pound king, said he wants to use “a lot of combinations” against Mexico’s “El Travieso (the mischievous one).”
The Filipino Flash added that he will use the lessons he picked up from his bout against Jeffrey Mathebula.
The 5’6” Donaire hinted that he’ll probably use his longer reach over the 5’4” Arce.
“It's about trying to correct what I’ve learned in the Mathebula fight. Being the shorter guy, it’s the most difficult to fight a taller guy and I know that now,” he said.
Donaire also said that Arce’s toe-to-toe style will give him an opportunity to showcase his counter-punching skills.
