MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas will look to keep its momentum going as it goes up against Singapore in the FIBA Asia Cup in Wuhan, China on Monday afternoon.

The Philippine national team had a winning start to the tournament after beating Chinese-Taipei, 78-64, to put themselves in a good position in Group B.

"Almost 30 turnovers may not be the best way to go forward, but I'm not complaining," national team head coach Chot Reyes said after their win over Taiwan.

"This is the first game after a long time. Some guys are just coming off a long PBA season, and some are wearing this uniform for the first time," added Reyes. "There's bound to be some pressure, but I think we'll come along all right."

Paul Lee had a fine game for Gilas Pilipinas, which squandered a 16-point lead and needed to overhaul a six-point deficit in the third period to win the game.

Gilas will play Singapore at 2:45 p.m. Monday, and will then take on Jordan – and former head coach Rajko Toroman – on Tuesday afternoon.

The national team is seeking to sweep its group and thus avoid an early playoff game against favorites China and Iran, which are both in Group A.
