Season 76 record: 4-10 (7th)
Season 76 recap:
Adamson had a promising start to Season 76, winning their opening day game against the UP Fighting Maroons. They booked two more victories in the first round – upsets of the National University Bulldogs and the University of the East Red Warriors. But a controversial game against La Salle took the wind out of their sails, and they only won one game the rest of the way. At the end of the season, Coach Leo Austria announced that he was leaving the team.
Losses: Coach Leo Austria, Jericho Cruz, Rodney Brondial, Ingrid Sewa, Roider Cabrera
Holdovers: Ryan Monteclaro, Don Trollano, Axel Iñigo, Jansen Rios, Dawn Ochea
Acquisitions: Matthew Aquino, Joseph Nalos, Alex Barrera, Ivan Villanueva, Christian Garcia, William Polican, JR Gumtang, Jess Pedrosa, Harold Butron, Kevin Baytan, Francis Donahue
Season 77 projection:
It will be a rebuilding year for the Adamson Soaring Falcons, who lost Coach Leo Austria after the Season 76 tournament, and then found out that swingman and star player Jericho Cruz will not be suiting up for the team with barely a month to go before Season 77.
New coach Kenneth Duremdes will have to make the most of a young line-up, while veterans like Ryan Monteclaro and Don Trollano are expected to not only be leaders but to step out of the shadow of their more highly-regarded players as soon as possible.
It also remains to be seen if the Falcons have fully adjusted to Duremdes’ run-and-gun style after years of running Austria’s more deliberate, half-court offense.
With only five holdovers, young and raw rookies, and a new coach and a new system, the Falcons are not expected to be highly competitive this season, although it will not be surprising to see players like Monteclaro, Trollano and Rios wax hot from beyond the arc at the same time and will Adamson to victory.
Quote: "Lahat nabago, as in sobrang lahat. Nag-start kami, back to zero since andami nag-graduate na veterans, plus 'yung loss ni Sewa. Nawala si Sewa and then 'yung bagong system na dinala ni Coach Kenneth ngayon. Ngayon, kay Coach Kenneth, mina-maximize niya kung ano 'yung natira sa amin, so most likely, parang run-and-gun kami." – Adamson point guard Ryan Monteclaro
