HOLLYWOOD, California – Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta is ready for his debut as a Top Rank fighter, the same group that promotes the fights of Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.

Gesta said he only needs to lose a few more pounds.

His Top Rank debut will be on July 9 in Carson, California, against Mexican fighter Jorge Pimentel. He will be in the undercard of the Brandon Rios-Urbano Antillon WBA match.

Gesta has been training with Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, and sparring with light middleweight champion, Amir Khan.

Some people in the boxing community have claimed that Gesta put up intense fights against Khan.

"Everybody says they’ve been sparring together and Gesta has more than held his own against Amir Khan," says Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

"Maganda ang pinakita ko sa ring," Gesta said of his sparring against Khan.

If the unbeaten Gesta lives up to the hype, Top Rank may give him a title match by the end of the year.

Gesta may end up fighting the winner of the Rios-Antillon bout or the current IBF champion, Miguel Vasquez.
