MANILA, Philippines – Chris Weidman, who is due to defend his UFC middleweight title this weekend, said he wants a clear cut victory against Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida in UFC 175.
Weidman retained his title against future hall-of-famer Anderson Silva last December, but didn’t like the nature of his victory after Silva accidentally broke his leg while fighting it out against Weidman.
Weidman said that this time, he wants to get credit via a decisive win over Machida.
“It is just that you want to knock out a guy or submit a guy, so for something like that (Silva snapping his leg) to happen is just not normal. I wasn’t happy really after my last fight at all. I couldn’t smile,” said Weidman in BJ Penn.com.
“Coming into this next fight, hopefully there is no ball breaking and that I get a clean win,” he added.
UFC 175 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
The event will also feature the women's bantamweight title fight between UFC champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Alexis Davis.
