MANILA, Philippines – Basketball superstar James Yap revealed that James "Bimby" Yap Jr. isn't his only child.

In an interview with “Tapatan Ni Tunying” airing this Thursday, Yap talks about his older child with a former girlfriend for the first time.

“Actually, gusto ko lang magpasalamat sa ex-girlfriend ko na talagang kung ano man pinagdaanan ko, hindi siya nakisawsaw, hindi sya nakialam o siniraan ako,” he told broadcast journalist Anthony Taberna.

In the interview, where he also discussed his improving relationship with former wife Kris Aquino and son Bimby, Yap also admitted that he is mulling to quit his professional basketball career after six years in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), and eventually venture into coaching.

Yap, who made all the big shots to steer San Mig Coffee past Rain or Shine in Game 1 on Tuesday night, said he dreams of becoming a coach and teaching young players the rudiments of the game.

“Gusto kong mag-coach sa high school para sa mga bata. Para ma-share ko kung ano ‘yong experience ko, ‘di ba? Iba pa ‘yong feeling ‘pag nakatulong ka sa mga bata tapos makikita mo na lang silang nasa PBA,” “Big Game James” said.

Is settling down with his Italian girlfriend, Michela Cazzola, also a reason for his retirement plan?

“Ang pagpapakasal kasi, nandiyan lang ‘yan. Hindi naman nawawala ‘yan. Hinay-hinay lang. Darating at darating ‘yong oras na bigla lang maiisip mo, Okay, sige,” he said.

The two-time Most Valuable Player plays a vital role in San Mig Coffee's Grand Slam aspirations.

Despite having a dismal performance in the first three quarters of Game 1 last Tuesday, Yap came through in the clutch by drilling a three-pointer and a one-handed jumper to give the Coffee Mixers the win.
