MANILA, Philippines – UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva said it’s going to be an uphill battle if he’d fight Jon Jones as a light heavyweight.

"Jon Jones, in his class, is the best," Silva said of the UFC light heavyweight king in MMA Fighting.

"If I fight Jon Jones, I don't think I'm going to win."

UFC president Dana White has been trying to arrange two superfights for Silva before the 38-year-old heads into retirement. That includes one against Jones, who has the height and build similar to the Brazilian MMA superstar.

However, Silva said he’s different from Jones in two ways. Apart from the 6-foot-4 Jones being taller, he said the light heavyweight fighter is also 13 years younger.

Silva said the New Yorker reminds him of a younger version of himself. “I see in Jon Jones, I see myself from a long time ago. He's very smart," he said.

If they were to fight, Silva said he’ll only be enjoying one edge.

"In my opinion, Spider has more experience than Jon Jones, but that's the only advantage," said Silva.
