MANILA (UPDATE) – San Mig Coffee pulled off a miracle in the fourth quarter and surprised Rain or Shine on Tuesday with a come-from-behind 104-101 victory in the PBA Governors' Cup best-of-5 finals.

The Elasto Painters were leading for most part of the contest but "Big Game" James Yap stepped up big time in the last two minutes to spearhead the Coffee Mixers to a 1-0 lead in the title series.

After an 11-point deficit in the first half, the Coffee Mixers tried to mount a rally to trim the Elasto Painters’ lead.

But Arizona Reid and Beau Belga paced the E-Painters to keep Rain or Shine ahead, 78-71, going into the pay-off period.

Allein Maliksi and Ian Sangalang then instigated a run that cut the deficit, 83-85.

Mark Barroca's lay-up pulled the Coffee Mixers within 1 point, 88-89, but Jeffrei Chan responded with a long jumper to keep Rain or Shine afloat, 91-88.

Yap then started to take over and launched a run that had Rain or Shine reeling.

His three-pointer in the final 57 seconds pushed the Coffee Mixers ahead, 99-98.

He followed this up with a one-handed jumper to make it 101-98 for San Mig Coffee.

Yap had 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, while PJ Simon top-scored for the Coffee Mixers with 18.

AZ Reid paced Rain or Shine with 35 points to go with his 12 rebounds.

The game didn't end without controversy, as Rain or Shine questioned a non-call due to contact between Paul Lee and Marc Pingris in the dying seconds of the game.

The best-of-5 series is a title rematch between San Mig Coffee and Rain or Shine, which battled during the Philippines Cup finals early this season.

The Coffee Mixers defeated the Elasto Painters in that face-off, 4-2.

San Mig Coffee is also looking to win its third title this PBA season and clinch a Grand Slam, which was last won by Alaska in 1996.
