MANILA, Philippines – National team head coach Chot Reyes is hoping that Rain or Shine guard Paul Lee can be included in the Gilas Pilipinas line-up that will play in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup in Wuhan, China starting July 11.

"If it's okay with him, gusto ko sana kasama siya sa line-up sa Wuhan," Reyes said of Lee, as quoted by

Lee, a member of the Gilas Pilipinas pool, is set to compete in the PBA Governors Cup finals starting Tuesday.

But Reyes is also looking forward to see how the former University of the East star will fare against international competition.

"Hindi ko guguluhin 'yung mga teams na lalaro sa Finals," Reyes said. "Pero gusto kong makita si Paul Lee in that situation."

"He has the tools, but it's hard to say because it’s not just the game that is an issue here," the coach explained. "Gusto kong makita kung paano siya mag-respond sa araw-araw na laro, sa pace, at 'yung reaksyon niya sa international game. Malayong-malayo kasi isyon sa laro sa PBA."

Aside from Lee, other Gilas mainstays who are competing in the PBA Finals are Rain or Shine’s Jeff Chan, Gabe Norwood and Beau Belga, and San Mig Coffee’s Marc Pingris.

"Di ko sila guguluhin kahit sa ensayo dito," promised Reyes. "But they have to be present, not necessarily to join the practice."

Aside from competing in the FIBA Asia Cup, Gilas will also hold a training camp in Miami in August as part of their build up for the FIBA World Cup in Spain that starts on August 30.
