NU beats UP to open V-League campaign

MANILA, Philippines – The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs bucked a first-set setback to beat the University of the Philippines (UP), 18-25, 25-19, 25-22, and 25-23, to open their campaign in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 Open Conference Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Four players scored in double digits for the Lady Bulldogs, who wrapped up the match in just over one hour and thirty minutes.

Jaja Santiago led the way with 21 points on 18 attacks, while Myla Pablo added 14 points, and Siemens Dadang and Jorelle Singh each had 10 points.

Katherine Bersola, the Best Blocker of the UAAP Season 76 tournament, scored 17 points for the Lady Maroons and Nicole Tiamzon had an all-around game of 14 points and seven excellent digs.

The Lady Maroons will get a quick chance to recover as they return to action on Tuesday, against Philippine Army.
