MANILA, Philippines – Mexican boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez is officially a four-division world champion after American Timothy Bradley Jr. decided to vacate the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight title.
Bradley on Thursday decided to keep the WBO’s welterweight championship, which he won in an upset of Filipino icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao last June 9, and vacate the junior welterweight belt.
Marquez, who held the WBO’s interim title, was elevated to full champion by the organization.
The Mexican boxer has also won championships at featherweight, junior lightweight and lightweight.
Marquez, who has fought Pacquiao three times already, may earn a fourth shot at the Filipino fight king later this year.
