MANILA, Philippines – Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion Georges St.-Pierre is back in training after an extensive rehabilitation process following an ACL injury.
“I’m back in Montreal and full-time training! Already tried a few kicks – right knee is super strong,” the fighter, often referred to as “GSP,” said in his Facebook page.
St.-Pierre, who was supposed to fight “Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit in UFC 137 last October, was sidelined by a torn ACL (acute cruciate ligament) in his right knee.
He last fought and won against Jake Shields in UFC 129 that took place in April 2011.
Now that he has recuperated from injury, St.-Pierre will have the chance to unify his crown with Condit’s interim welterweight title.
Condit was awarded the interim belt after beating Nick Diaz via unanimous decision in UFC 143 last February.
