MANILA, Philippines -- For former NBA star Stephon Marbury, the recent seven-game showdown between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs is among the best NBA title duels in the past 20 years.

Marbury, who visited the Philippines early this week to promote his shoe line, marveled at how the Heat and the Spurs waged war against each other in the finals.

“I thought it was good. I thought this was the best finals since probably when [Michael] Jordan played against the Lakers,” the 36-year-old point guard told ANC’s Boyet Sison.

The to and fro between Miami and San Antonio has forced the finals series to go the distance with the Heat claiming Game 7 and the Larry O’Brien trophy that goes with it.

Miami’s Lebron James also won back-to-back Finals MVP awards to go with his regular season MVP accolades.

Marbury, currently plays for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association, saw action with the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics and knows how competitive it could be in the NBA.

“Jordan has never played a Game 7, but I thought that they really went at it and it was a real war. They battled on the floor,” he said.
