MANILA, Philippines – Boxing champion Timothy Bradley claimed that lots of people, particularly gamblers, were upset of his win because they lost their betting money on Manny Pacquiao.
“Boxing is definitely about money, I feel that a lot of people are definitely upset because they feel like they definitely lost a lot of money that night,” Bradley told The Desert Sun.
Pacquiao, the eight-division champion, was heavily favored to win heading into the June 9 fight.
Bettors needed $450 on Pacquiao to win $100, while they needed only $100 to get $325 from Bradley.
But the American boxer pulled off a split-decision verdict to take away Pacquiao’s World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title.
Bradley claimed the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where the fight took place, took the biggest hit after his win.
“MGM, they lost a lot of money that night,” said the boxer.
