MANILA, Philippines – The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters have acquired the services of former Barangay Ginebra import Rod Nealy to boost their chances to make it into the wild card of the KFC-PBA Fiesta Cup.
The 6-foot-5, hard-working Nealy will replace burly import Jai Lewis to help Rain or Shine in its playoff bid.
According to PBA.ph, the Painters are just a loss away from making it to the playoffs.
Rain or Shine is currently tied with Coca-Cola at 6th and 7th places with identical 7-9 win-loss records.
Only one of them will end up in a playoff game with the 5th ranked Gin Kings (9-9) for a trip to the quarterfinals.
“We hope Nealy would give us a boost in tomorrow’s (Friday) game,” said Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia, referring to their 5 p.m. clash with Air21 at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday.
“We have an opportunity and we have to grab it,” he added.
