MANILA, Philippines – The Alaska Aces bounced back from their Game 2 loss with a 104-94 victory over Rain or Shine to post a 2-1 lead in their best-of-5 series PBA Governor's Cup semifinals series on Tuesday.
Import Henry Walker shook off the Elasto Painters' physical play and scored 26 points for Alaska, bringing the Aces to just one win away from the finals.
Calvin Abueva added 14 for Alaska, which also drew concerted effort from Gabby Espinas, Dondon Hontiveros, Sonny Thoss, and Vic Manuel.
Espinas tallied 12 markers, while Hontiveros, Thoss, and Manuel had 11 each.
It was a back-and-forth affair between the two squads in the first 3 quarters until Paul Lee and Arizona Reid rallied the Elasto Painters to a 93-88 lead with barely 4 minutes remaining.
Walker then took over and scored 11 points down the stretch to put the game away for the Aces.
Jeff Chan paced Rain or Shine with 22 points. Reid, however, was limited to just 17 points on 5-of-19 field goal shooting.
Rain or Shine leveled the series 1-1 last Sunday when it posted a 99-87 win over Alaska. But after losing on Tuesday, they gave the Aces two chances of clinching a seat in the Governors’ Cup finals.
