MANILA, Philippines – San Mig Coffee head coach Tim Cone said the Mixers should not be complacent despite claiming a 2-0 lead against Talk 'N Text in their PBA Governors Cup semi-finals series.
San Mig moved to within a game of making the PBA Governors Cup finals after beating the Texters, 93-85, Saturday night at the Araneta Coliseum.
In a PBA.ph report, Cone praised his players for staying composed when TNT cut what was once a 20-point lead into just five points in the third quarter.
But he also warned his team not to take their two-game lead for granted, especially against a dangerous team like Talk 'N Text.
"This team (Talk 'N Text) is capable of putting up three really good games," Cone said of the Texters, who entered the playoffs as the top seeded team. "We're gonna see if we could get out there and get one of them."
"The old cliché is that two games don’t make a series. It’s a best-of-five," he stressed. "It's only two, and we need only one, and if any team is capable of coming back, (Talk ;N Text) is."
"We’d rather be in this position than the other one. We’re feeling blessed that we're up 2-0."
The Mixers can wrap up their series in Game 3 on Monday, and come closer to clinching a Grand Slam.
