MANILA – San Mig Coffee made it 2 in a row against Talk ‘N Text in their best-of-5 semifinal showdown on Saturday night to inch closer to the PBA Governors’ Cup finals.
The Coffee Mixers dominated the Tropang Texters en route to a 93-85 win in Game 2.
San Mig Coffee needs only one more win to return to the PBA finals.
Marqus Blakely and Joe Devance paced the Coffee Mixers with 19 points each as they led the Tropang Texters in all quarters.
Barroca was also deadly, tallying 13 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 33 minutes.
San Mig Coffee blazed ahead with a 13-1 run in the opening quarter before ending the period with a 32-13 lead.
Talk ‘N Text mounted several rallies, but could not turn the game to their favor. The closest they could get was when they pulled within 5, 59-64, going to the fourth canto.
Paul Harris led Talk 'N Text with 33 points, while Jayson Castro added 12.
Returning player PJ Simon, who missed Game 1 due to back spasms, had 8 points for San Mig Coffee. James Yap, who injured his foot in the previous game, had 9 points.
If the Coffee Mixers beat the Tropang Texters in Game 3, they will be making their 27th PBA Finals appearance. It will also be coach Tim Cone's 29th trip to the finals.
