MANILA, Philippines -- Barely a week after the National Basketball Association finals, Manila has caught NBA fever again as Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love is in town.
Love, who is in town for a promotional tour, will be part of a special All-Star game featuring UAAP, NCAA, PBA, and Gilas Pilipinas stars.
Love said he is one of the millions around the world awed by what the San Antonio Spurs did in the NBA finals.
“I thought it will be tough for anybody to beat LeBron and company in 7 games but you just can never count out the Spurs. They play so well together, team basketball, they move the ball extremely well. Anybody in the team can really step in and play for them at anytime,” he said.
Love also made a surprise visit to Boystown in Marikina on Friday, delighting fans.
As Love makes headlines here, he is also in the headlines on sports pages in the US.
Trade rumors about him have picked up -- the latest of which sees him teaming up with Stephen Curry in Golden State.
Although Love avoided answering questions about his future, he did weigh in on the state of power forwards in the league today.
Love reiterates, his main focus for this trip is to get to know his Filipino fans up close.
They will get to see him in action on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
