MANILA, Philippines – San Mig Coffee outlasted Talk 'N Text via a 92-88 overtime win on Thursday to take Game 1 of their PBA Governors' Cup semifinal series.

The Mixers battled their way out of a 10-point deficit, 64-74, in the payoff period until Allein Maliksi fired a triple that tied the score at 77-all and sent the game into overtime.

Mark Barroca and Marc Pingris then took care of business in the extra period, enabling the Coffee Mixers to draw first blood in the best-of-5 duel.

Marqus Blakely paced San Mig Coffee with 20 points to go with his 10 rebounds and 4 assists.

James Yap, who failed to finish the game, led the locals with 13 points while Barroca tallied 11 markers. Maliksi and Pingris had 10 points each.

Talk ‘N Text was leading comfortably, 75-66, midway the fourth when San Mig Coffee stepped up its defense while unleashing a 12-2 blitz capped by Maliki’s triple. This sent the game to extra period.

One factor that caused the Texters’ down fall was Paul Harris failure to deliver during overtime. The Tropang Texters import was held down to 17 points, from his 24-point output against Barako Bull last Monday.

Jayson Castro led Talk ‘N Text with 24 points. Ranidel de Ocampo added 19.
