Poll shows fans believe Pacquiao won over Bradley
MANILA, Philippines - An online poll conducted by the RING Magazine has eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao winning by a landslide over undefeated Palm Springs native Timothy Bradley.
Asked by RingTV if Bradley deserved to win by split decision over Pacquiao, 87.6% of the voters said “no,” while 7% voted “yes.”
Only 5.3% of the 20,000 fans who participated in the poll thought "it could have gone either way."
Bradley recently wrested the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title from Pacquiao, although many saw the Filipino winning at least 8 rounds of the 12-round fight.
Ring officials Duane Ford and CJ Ross each favored the American boxer with a 115-113 ruling. Only boxing judge Jerry Roth saw it the other way, 115-113, for Pacquiao.
The result was branded by boxing pundits as one of the worst boxing decisions ever.
Ford justified his scoring by saying that the Pacquiao he saw in the Bradley fight was not the Pacquiao of old.
"What I saw in the fourth round, (Pacquiao) clearly won that. He hurt Bradley. But the Manny Pacquiao that I watched in the past would've finished him," Ford said.
"He let him off the hook," he added.
