MANILA, Philippines – Meralco will try to keep its PBA Governors Cup bid alive when it tangles with Air21 on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Bolts are hanging on dear life with only 2 wins in 6 starts in the league’s season-ending conference.

"We are a team with a mission to stay alive. We are compelled to do our best to stay afloat," said Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio on

Meralco will be coming off a heartbreaking 81-77 defeat to Rain or Shine last Friday.

A win over Air21 will serve as morale booster for the Bolts.

"There is still a small opening for us. We want to make sure that we grab that opportunity," said Gregorio.

However, Meraclo won’t have an easy time against Air21 Express who are looking for an urgent win after 3 straight losses.

"Must win for us," said Express coach Franz Pumaren.

Against Air21, Meralco can lean on the run-and-gun game of Mario West and Sol Mercado or the half-court play of Asi Taulava and Macmac Cardona.

But the Express has a scoring machine in import Zachary Graham, who exploded for 41 in their 100-109 loss to Barako Bull last week.
