MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has tapped the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City as the venue for its planned hosting of the four-nation Long Teng Cup.

The Cup, which will be held in October, will feature the Philippines, Hong Kong, Chinese-Taipei and Macau.

PFF president Nonong Araneta said that instead of hosting the Cup in Manila, they decided to bring the Long Teng to Bacolod, as the City of Smiles is more feasible in terms of financial requirements.

The event may kick off on October 3 and will run until October 7.

Hosting in Panaad – largely considered the birthplace of the Philippine Azkals – is estimated to cost P5 million to P6 million, inclusive of food and accommodation of the delegates, plus match officials and other logistical requirements.

The Long Teng Cup should serve as one of the final build-up for the Azkals before they do battle in the AFF Suzuki Cup in late November. Mornings @ ANC, June 19, 2012.
