MANILA, Philippines – Two football tournaments will be held on the last day of World Cup Pilipinas (WCP) at the Liwasang Ipil-Ipil Grounds at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex in Pasay City.
Aside from the Century Tuna Cup Pilipinas 7-a-side tournament, the grand finals of the month-long 11-a-side event will be held on Sunday.
Entrance is free to the WCP.
The WCP has drawn participants from 12 countries—Brazil, Portugal, Ivory Coast, Sudan, South Africa, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain, India and the Philippines.
According to tournament organizer and Sunken Garden United (SGU-FC) president TJ Besa, the WCP is a vehicle for their advocacy to create more public football fields.
He believes the more they hold events at public places such as the CCP Complex, the more they get to encourage the promotion of football to the public at-large.
The tournament offers over P40,000 worth of prizes.
