MANILA, Philippines – Talk 'N Text surged in the second half to put away Barako Bull at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, 99-84, and secure a ticket to the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals.

KG Canaleta exploded with 25 points, with 14 of them in the last two quarters, while Paul Harris came up with 24 points and 13 rebounds to steer the Tropang Texters past Barako Bull.

Canaleta also nailed for 6 triples that inflicted heavy damage on the Energy Colas.

Talk 'N Text, which came into the playoffs with a twice-to-beat advantage over Barako Bull, found itself behind by 2 points after two quarters, 41-43.

But the Tropang Texters burst ahead via a 26-9 run that had them leading, 73-65, in the third quarter.

In the payoff period, they cornered Barako Bull’s Allen Durham and limited the import to just 4 points and crippled the Energy Colas' offense.

Jayson Castro finished with 16 points for Talk ‘N Text, while Ranidel De Ocampo contributed 14.

“It was a great team effort by my players today,” said Texters coach Norman Black in the league’s official website.

“We’re very balanced as far as scoring is concerned. We had a lot of contributions from almost everybody. One of the keys in my team is we really have to get at least four guys scoring in double-digits. We have to be balanced so we don’t really have to rely totally on Paul Harris.”

Black said their defense silenced Barako Bull in the second half.

“In the first half, we tried to play Durham straight up. It didn’t really work so we just decided to go after him and try to get the ball out of his hands, and it worked in the second half because their offense sputtered and we were able to pull away,” he said.

Durham finished his Governors’ Cup campaign with 25 points and 17 rebounds, while Keith Jensen had a career-high of 17 points.
