MANILA, Philippines – The Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters are looking to take care of business quickly when they kick off the PBA Governors Cup quarter-finals against the Barako Bull Energy Tuesday night at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Texters have clinched the top seed and hold a twice-to-beat advantage against the eighth-seeded Barako Bull, but they refuse to get complacent especially as the Energy Cola beat them in their elimination round game.
“That’s gonna be an interesting contest, considering the last time out, they beat us,” said TNT head coach Norman Black in the PBA.ph preview. “We have to come out and match their energy.”
The Texters will have their hands full with Barako import Allen Durham, who torched them for 28 points and 29 rebounds in their game.
Game time is at 5:45 p.m.
In the second game of the double-header, the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers will try to kick their grand slam campaign into a higher gear when they take on the San Miguel Beermen.
The Coffee Mixers will have a twice-to-beat advantage over the Beermen, but they may also be dealing with some exhaustion after figuring in a tough game against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Monday night.
Arizona Reid burned the Mixers for 39 points, including the game-winning jumper, to power the E-painters to a 95-94 victory.
The SMC-SMB game is scheduled for 8 p.m., also at the Araneta Coliseum.
