MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra’s Jens Knuttel said he didn’t mean to disrespect Jimmy Alapag when he dared the Talk ‘N Text veteran to a one-on-one last Sunday.

The former Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraw was seen gesturing to the Gilas Pilipinas player while their teams were battling it out at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tropang Texters eventually won, 96-92, and finished the PBA Governors’ Cup elimination atop the standings.

Knuttel later posted an apology to Alapag on Twitter.

“@JAlapag3 Just wanna say I truly idolize you. I meant no disrespect at all. Sorry, I let my emotions get the best of me. Congrats on the W!” he tweeted.

The Twitter post was deleted since.

In an interview’s Reuben Terrado, Knuttel explained that he merely he got carried away by the emotions of the game.

“Meron lang ‘yung time na end of the shot clock, nag-sign ako na, 'Come here.' Nadala lang ako sa crowd and emotions, pero nothing against him,” he said.

Alapag, for his part, said he was caught off guard by Knuttel’s gesture.

“I didn’t really know how to react to it. But again, I’ve played in too many games and been in this league too long to get involved in the whole whatever you want to call that,” he said.
