MANILA, Philippines – New World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Timothy Bradley said American slugger Kendall Holt is a better puncher than the man he recently defeated, Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
In an interview with Boxing Scene, the undefeated Bradley claimed that Pacquiao is “a good puncher,” but “Kendall Holt is a better puncher."
“Holt has one-punch knockout power, while Pacquiao puts you away with combination punching,” he explained.
Bradley upset Pacquiao last June 9 in Las Vegas, winning via a highly controversial split decision. In that match, he was outlanded and outpunched by the Filipino champion but still earned the victory.
Bradley defeated Holt when they met in April 2009 in Canada. Holt knocked down Bradley in the first round and again in the 12th, but Bradley rallied to take a unanimous decision win.
The unbeaten American further said the injuries he suffered to both his feet severely limited him in the bout against Pacquiao.
“It was the ankle. You have no stability. No leverage on your shots. It’s just an uncomfortable feeling. I would hae done a lot better if it wasn’t hurt,” Bradley said.
Bradley said he is willing to give Pacquiao a rematch, saying he was “all for it.” But it seems the Filipino fighter may be headed for a fourth bout against rival Juan Manuel Marquez.
The Pacquiao-Bradley bout is also being reviewed by several institutions, including the Nevada State’s Attorney General’s Office, the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and the World Boxing Organization.
