Freddie Roach faces dilemma over a possible clash between Manny Pacquiao and Ruslan Provodnikov.

MANILA, Philippines – It will be a sad day for boxing trainer Freddie Roach if he sees two of his fighters, Manny Pacquiao and Ruslan Provodnikov, face off against each other.

Roach said both the fighting congressman and the “Siberian Rocky” are among his prized pupils. He, however, admitted that he won’t stand in the way of Provodnikov if he wants to fight Pacquiao.

"I have both fighters and I would hate to lose one of them, one of the fighters. But, the thing is, if the demand does come again, we're going to have to let it happen and it'd be a sad day for me," Roach said in ESPN.com.

The boxing trainer said he might refuse to corner any of the two and watch the fight at home.

"I'd probably sit out and just watch it on TV myself,” said Roach.

Provodnikov, who is set to fight New Yorker Chris Algieri this weekend, is one of the leading candidates to fight Pacquiao on November 23.

Roach said that the way he sees it, the Siberian Rocky will get his fight date with the Filipino superstar if Juan Manuel Marquez continues to decline the rematch Pacquiao.

"Manny is my No. 1 guy and so forth, but Ruslan's very close to me. And Ruslan has been a very hard worker. But the demand is getting closer and closer, so with the win here [on Saturday] it could happen. And Manny is running out of opponents right now, and that's the way it goes," said the boxing coach.

In a previous report, Roach hints he knows what’s going to happen should Pacquiao and Provodnikov meet in the ring.

He cited that Pacquiao and Provodnikov have been training partners and are thus familiar with their respective fighting styles.

“I've seen them spar a lot. I think I know what might happen,” the American trainer said. “Ruslan is a very dangerous, dangerous guy. He has one punch knockout power. And Pacquiao has been knocked out before. It's not an easy fight.”
