If Top Rank decides to arrange a “cross over” match for Manny Pacquiao, boxing coach Freddie Roach wants someone more exciting than Amir Khan.

Roach was reacting to the possibility of Top Rank arranging a “cross over match” with Oscar dela Hoya’s outfit and believes that Golden Boy Promotions’ Danny Garcia can provide a more exciting bout for Pacquiao.

“If you're going to cross over, cross over and get me something exciting. Someone who's going to make a good fight, that's what Manny wants,” Pacquiao’s boxing coach told The Sweet Science.

Roach admitted that Khan, a former training partner of Pacquiao who also fights under Golden Boy, can give the Filipino a competitive bout.

However, he said the British fighter has become too much of a smart fighter that he takes the “fun” out of a fight.

“He throws combinations and holds now, it's so boring,” Roach said of his former pupil. “It's smart but not fun to watch. I don't want to stink the place out.”

This is not the case with Garcia, he said.

“Danny Garcia wouldn't do that, Garcia would fight back. If they can cross over and get Khan, why not cross over and get Garcia?” said Roach.

Pacquiao has already been scheduled to make his return to the boxing ring on November 23 in Macau.

Among the possible opponents being proposed by Top Rank are Juan Manuel Marquez, Ruslan Provodnikov and Carlos Abregu.

Top Rank’s Bob Arum also said they might also negotiate with Golden Boy Promotions to pit Pacquiao against their top welterweight boxers.
