Pingris, Tiu unveil teams for All-Star Challenge

MANILA, Philippines – A mix of professional and amateur basketball players will see action in an All-Star Game on June 21 at the Araneta Coliseum, with Rain or Shine star Chris Tiu and San Mig Coffee’s Marc Pingris at the helm.

In the second year of the Master Game Face Challenge, the two All-Star teams led by Tiu and Pingris will battle for the crown in a game that will be witnessed by NBA superstar Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

From a pool of 30 PBA players, Tiu selected Ranidel de Ocampo, Jeff Chan, Mike Cortez, Jimmy Alapag, Cliff Hodge, and Alex Nuyles. They will be joined by collegiate players Jeron Teng, Chris Newsome, Kevin Ferrer, Mike Tolomia, Rome dela Rosa, Mark Cruz, and Zach Nicholls.

Meanwhile, Pingris chose Gary David, Mark Barroca, Jared Dillinger, Larry Fonacier, Jeric Teng, and Paul Artadi from the PBA pool. They will be joined by Andre Paras, Jeoffrey Javillonar, Jericho Cruz, Roi Sumang, Baser Amer, Kevin Racal, and Josan Nimes.

Love, who is coming over to Manila for the first time, is expected to appear at halftime of the event to display his moves in a skills challenge. He is set to compete with some of the PBA’s best shooters in a three-point shootout.
