MANILA, Philippines – The San Mig Super Coffee Mixers will likely be in for a difficult time when they play against the Air21 Express in the PBA Governors Cup Monday night at the Araneta Coliseum, according to head coach Tim Cone.
The Express memorably pushed the Mixers to a do-or-die Game 5 in their semi-final series in the recent PBA Commissioners Cup, and the team has only improved from there.
“We’re expecting an extremely tough game,” Cone told PBA.ph. “Our focus is just to stay with what we do and look for a win.”
San Mig and Air21 are tied in the league standings with identical 4-2 records, and the winner of Monday’s game will be in solo second, behind leaders Talk 'N Text.
The momentum is with Air21, who routed Meralco, 80-67, in their most recent game.
San Mig, meanwhile, is coming off an 84-93 loss at the hands of the Alaska Aces.
“In our last three games, we’re looking at winning at least two,” said Air21 coach Franz Pumaren.
Game time is at 8 p.m.
