Boxing promoter Bob Arum revealed the possible options for Manny Pacquiao who is set to fight again in Macau on November 23.
In an interview with World Boxing News, the Top Rank Inc CEO. said Juan Manuel Marquez is among the top priorities for the WBO welterweight champion.
“Manny has a number of options for fighting in November, on the 22nd (23rd in Macau) and we will announce shortly who he is going to be fighting. Whether it's Marquez or somebody else will become clear in the next couple of days,” said Arum.
He added that two more Top Rank fighters are on the list, aside from several others who belong to Oscar dela Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.
“There are plenty of names. Ruslan Provodnikov is on the list, Carlos Abregu, the Argentinian welterweight is on the list. Those are two of the principal names. And then we'll have to see how many Golden Boy fighters would be available for the fight and that will become clear in the next week or so,” he said.
Arum is waiting for Dela Hoya to clear the mess left by Golden Boy co-founder Richard Schaefer, who announced his resignation from the promotional company days ago.
The veteran promoter wanted to know who among the Golden Boy welterweights will be staying with Dela Hoya as some of the Golden Boy Promotion’s boxers were signed with boxing manager Al Haymon.
World Boxing News said the likes of Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and Marcos Maidana could be added to the mix.
The winners of Robert Guerrero versus Yoshihiro Kagemai and Devon Alexander versus Jesus Soto Karass could also be added to the list.
Arum also clarified that Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez isn’t likely to be available in November as the boxer is scheduled to fight Erislandy Lara in July.
