MANILA, Philippines – Defending PBA Governors' Cup champion San Mig Coffee acquired Yousef Taha and Ronnie Matias from GlobalPort to reinforce their Grand Slam campaign.

The Office of the PBA Commissioner said Tuesday that it approved the trade, which also shipped San Mig’s Yancy de Ocampo and Val Acuna to the Batang Pier.

"The Office of the Commissioner has approved the following trade: San Mig Coffee acquired Yousef Taha and Ronnie Matias from GlobalPort in exchange for Yancy de Ocampo and Val Acuña," the PBA said in a statement.

The Batang Pier are also trying to save their sagging Governors' Cup campaign with the acquisition of De Ocampo and Acuna.

GlobalPort is reeling from its fourth defeat after bowing to San Miguel Beer on Tuesday.

San Mig Coffee already won three straight championships since the Governors’ Cup last season. After winning the 2012-2013 season ending conference, the Mixers also took the 2013-2014 Philippine Cup and Commissioner’s Cup titles.

The Mixers, however, will need to repeat as Governors’ Cup champions to complete a rare Grand Slam.
