MANILA, Philippines – Filipino champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) light-flyweight champion, believes the unbeaten Genesis “Azucal” Servania will be the next Filipino boxing champion.

When asked by MaxBoxing who he sees “as the best young fighter in the Philippines,” Nietes named the 21-year-old Servania.

“I would say Genesis Servania. He has what it takes to be a champion,” Nietes told Anson Wainwright.

Servania, who competes at the super bantamweight division, has won all 20 of his professional fights, winning eight bouts via knockout.

Most recently, he knocked out Thai fighter Isack Junior in the third round of their undercard bout at Pinoy Pride XX last May 25 in Cebu City.

“He has the skills, the ability and a heart of a champion,” Nietes said of Servania.

In an interview with Max Boxing in August 2012, Servania said his short-term goal is to “remain undefeated,” but his long-term goal is to become a world champion.

“The super bantamweight division is very talented,” Servania said at the time. “I am still young and have a lot to learn, and I will continue to learn and improve.”

“In the coming years, I look to the day to test myself with the best in the division, and God willing, be world champion.”

Servania currently holds the WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight title.
