MANILA, Philippines – San Mig Super Coffee guard Peter June Simon has been named the PBA Player of the Week after taking a starring role in the Mixers' three-game winning streak in the PBA Governors Cup.
Simon has averaged 21.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists for San Mig Coffee, which has won three straight games in the conference, including victories over Meralco, GlobalPort, and the erstwhile unbeaten Barangay Ginebra.
He scored 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting against Meralco, a 108-90 victory for San Mig, then scored a conference-high 24 points against GlobalPort, which saw the Mixers recover from a 17-point disadvantage to win, 92-82.
Against Ginebra, Simon scored 19 points to help the Mixers take a 102-90 victory and take over the lead in the league standings.
Simon beat Talk 'N Text point guard Jimmy Alapag for the honor.
