MANILA – The San Miguel Beermen will go for a third consecutive victory in the PBA Governors Cup when they play the skidding Barako Bull Energy at the Alonte Sports Complex in Biñan, Laguna Wednesday night.
The Beermen are coming off a 92-90 win against San Mig Super Coffee last Sunday, and will be missing swingman Marcio Lassiter tonight. Lassiter suffered a laceration on his leg after diving for the ball against the Mixers.
But even without Lassiter, SMB will still be favored against Barako especially with center JunMar Fajardo putting up regular double-doubles, and import Reggie Williams fitting in well with the locals.
"We won our last two games, and it feels good," SMB consultant Todd Purves told PBA.ph. "But we understand that we have to keep on playing better, because you have to play your best basketball come playoff time, not at the beginning of the season."
"It feels good when you end up on top on a scoreboard perspective, but we have a very long way to go in playing the type of basketball we need at the end of the season," he stressed.
Barako, for its part, has lost its past two contests after winning its conference debut.
Game time is at 5:45 p.m.
