MANILA – Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner Chito Salud has summoned San Mig Coffee’s Marc Pingris over an incident involving Meralco’s James Sena during a game on Tuesday.
Pingris was ejected from the San Mig-Meralco game in the second quarter after being assessed with Flagrant Foul No. 2 for throwing a punch at Sena.
According to a report posted on PBA.ph, Pingris will be asked to explain his side at the Office of the Commissioner on Thursday.
Pingris said he retaliated at Sena after the Meralco forward elbowed his injured ribcage.
The San Mig Coffee defender said the injury had yet to fully heal, which is why he was infuriated after suffering a hit.
“Wala na sa anggulo ‘yung pick niya eh. Sana kung dumaan yung import sa kanya. Eh di naman,” he said. “Two weeks ko pinagaling ito, tapos eto ulit. Masakit na naman.”
Salud sees no need to summon Sena because he did not fight back despite getting punched.
“Hindi na ko sumuntok. Kasi televised ang game. Saka para saan pa, lalo lang gugulo,” said Sena.
