MANILA, Philippines – Hall-of-Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach has offered a lucrative reward to the sparring partners of British boxer Amir “King” Khan as he prepares for his July 14 clash against undefeated fight Danny Garcia.

According to a report from Boxing Scene, Roach has put up a $1,000 reward for any sparring partner who can knock down Khan – something that he also offered to the sparring partners of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.

“Freddie says if anyone can knock down me or Manny they will get a thousand dollars, but it hasn’t happened yet,” Khan said, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

“My sparring sessions are always full-on, you never take it easy on sparring partners,” he added. “Sometimes my fight might be easier than my sparring sessions.”

Khan said he and Pacquiao used to spar together, but that ended when he expressed his intention to move up the welterweight division.

“Not now, because we are at the same weight and there is always talk that we might fight each other one day,” he said.

Like Khan, Pacquiao is also preparing for an upcoming match: the Filipino boxer will defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight belt against unbeaten boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. on June 9 in Las Vegas.
