MANILA – Barangay Ginebra and Air21 stake their unbeaten records against each other tonight when they battle for the solo lead in the PBA Govenors Cup at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Both the Kings and the Express have gotten off to 2-0 starts to the conference, but one team’s perfect record will fall in tonight’s game.

Air21 head coach Franz Pumaren said the key for his team is to contain the Ginebra big men, especially Greg Slaughter.

“We need to make sure that their big guys won’t dominate us,” he said.

The Express have been playing at a high level since their semi-finals stint in the Commissioner’s Cup, as they beat Rain or Shine and Barako Bull in their first two assignments of the new conference.

“We are playing within the system. We are using our advantage and strength, and everybody’s stepping up,” explained Pumaren.

Meanwhile, the Kings have shown that they can adapt to the triangle offense brought in by new coach Jeffrey Cariaso, winning their first two games against GlobalPort and Meralco.

Game time is at 8:00 p.m.
