MANILA, Philippines – Timothy Bradley plans to come in light for his welterweight title fight against World Boxing Organization (WBO) title holder Manny Pacquiao.
The unbeaten American boxer said he wanted to retain his speed against a quick fighter like Pacquiao.
The added weight could make him sluggish, hence, he’ll plans to stay around 144 pounds.
“I'm on weight. I left the gym at 147-pounds today. I'll probably be coming a little light on the day of the weigh-in, 145 or 144,” he said on Boxing Scene.
The welterweight limit is 147 pounds.
Pacquiao himself rarely breaches the 145 pounds when he fights as a welterweight.
The fight is scheduled to take place on June 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The weigh-in takes place a day before the fight.
