Pagara retains title in Pinoy Pride XX
CEBU (UPDATE) -- Thousands came to Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City Saturday night to witness another breath-taking fight in "Pinoy Pride XX: Laban Kung Laban."
Jason Pagara successfully defended his WBO International junior welterweight title by outpointing Mexican boxer, Aaron Herrera, after 12 rounds in the main event.
Pagara, in an interview, said that it was among his toughest fights. In the sixth round, Pagara said he thought he would be able to knock down Herrera but the foreign boxer survived all his attacks.
"He is a strong man. All I did was to really keep my strength until the end," said Pagara who sustained some cuts on his face.
He won via unanimous decision.
Meantime, Jimrex Jaca now holds the WBO Oriental junior welterweight title after he defeated Jose Emilio Perea of Mexico in the supporting event.
The fight lasted 12 rounds and Jaca got the belt via a unanimous decision.
Another Pinoy boxer who took home victory is Genesis Servania who was able to knock down his Indonesian opponent, Isaac Junior, in the third round.
Servania took home the win in the non-title bout for super bantamweight division.
Junior entertained the boxing fans when he danced right after the decision of the judges was made.
Michael Aldeguer, president of ALA Promotions, said that they are already arranging Pinoy Pride XXI which will be held in in Manila this July.
Aside from that, they are busy preparing one of ALA Gym's asset, Milan Milendo, for his upcoming title fight in Macau on July 27.
Pinoy Pride XX will be broadcast on ABS-CBN Channel 2 starting 10:15 a.m.
