MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) was forced to cancel the Philippine Azkals’ supposed friendly game with Kyrgyzstan this June.
PFF General Secretary Ed Gastanes said in Erik Tenedero’s DZMM.com report that the friendly game in Kyrgyzstan comes with a hefty financial requirement.
Gastanes added that aside from a $7,000 budget per personnel, the Filipino squad would have to take a difficult route going to Bishkek where the supposed game is scheduled to take place.
He said the Azkals will have to travel to Moscow, Russia, before taking a connecting flight to Kyrgyzstan. It would take the Azkals 20 hours of travel time before reaching the site.
Meanwhile, the Azkals’ friendly match with Hong Kong on June 4 will still push through.
The PFF said it will look for other foreign teams who are willing to play with the Azkals as the Filipino squad prepares for the AFC Challenge Cup main draw in 2014.
