DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur—Terrence Romeo is excited to join his Gilas Pilipinas teammates again when they play a selection of Mindanao players in the first leg of the PBA all-star week here on Wednesday.
But at the same time, the TNT star guard couldn’t help but be a bit careful, too, because of an injured left ankle.
“Excited pero may kaunting kaba kasi kagagaling ko lang ng injury, may injury ulit,” said Romeo, who had just recovered from a knee injury.
But Romeo, who will be making his fourth appearance in the PBA all-stars, said that getting hurt is just part of the game and that his conditioning should be on point to allow himself to recover faster.
“Kelangan ko lang bumalik sa kundisyon para makabalik sa dating shape,” said Romeo, who hurt his left ankle when he accidentally stepped on Renz Palma’s foot during TNT’s game against Blackwater last Friday.
This caused his left ankle to swell and he never returned for the second half, finishing with 12 points in just 15 minutes of play.
But during practice at the Davao del Sur Coliseum on Tuesday, Romeo showed no signs of being in pain.
He said he wanted to perform well together with his Gilas teammates to give the Mindanao selection team a good fight.
“Para sa'kin more on mapasaya namin 'yung mga tao. We'll make sure na gagawin ang best para maging masaya 'yung laban,” said Romeo.
