PBA: TNT survives game of runs to top Alaska

MANILA – TNT fought back from a 15-point second-half deficit to beat Alaska, 119-110, in Legazpi City, Albay on Saturday and get closer to the leaders in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

It was game that swung wildly back and forth, with both teams going on huge scoring runs.

Alaska jumped to an early lead, finishing the 1st quarter ahead 36-23, before TNT countered with a 33-21 2nd quarter to close the gap to 57-56 at halftime.

The Aces pulled away again midway through the 3rd, going up by 15, 90-75, on a Jake Pascual basket.

But Ranidel de Ocampo contributed 9 of his 15 points in the 4th, where TNT outscored Alaska, 31-15.

TNT is at 5th place in the standings, but just a game and a half behind league leader San Miguel.

TNT found itself in some trouble after Joshua Smith sat out most of the game because of fouls, but the KaTropa veterans picked up the slack.

Jayson Castro finished with 20 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds, and RR Garcia chipped in 13 points on 4 triples for TNT, which upped its record to 

Smith tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes.

Cory Jefferson led Alaska with 29 points.
