Volleyball: Valdez, Santiago make cut in 18-member women's national pool

MANILA - (UPDATED) Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) has bared the list of players who made it to the 18-member national women's volleyball training pool for the Southeast Asian Games.

Among the players named are volleyball stars Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago, Mika Reyes, Rachel Ann Daquis and Abi Maraño.

Other players who made the cut include Dawn Macandili, Kim Fajardo, Lourdes Clemente, Dennise Lazaro, Jen Casugod, Maika Ortiz, Aiza Pontillas-Maizo, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Francis Molina, Kath Arado, Ria Meneses, Rhea Dimaculangan and Roselle Baliton.

The list was trimmed from the original 25 players who were initially named into the pool.

Meanwhile, those named into the men's national training pool are Relan Taneo, Brian Bagunas, Dave Cabaron, Mark Alfalfara, Reyson Fuentes, Jeff Malabanan, Bonjomar Castel, Herchel Ramos, Johnvic De Guzman, Louwie Chavez, Edward Camposano, Ranran Abdilla, Gregorio Dolor, Geuel Asia, Jack Kalingking, Peter Quiel, John Sarsena and John Carascal. 

Peter Cayco, acting president of LVPI, said the list will be further trimmed to 12 for each team shortly before the SEA Games in August.
