PBA: San Miguel tops NLEX, as Fajardo returns from Gilas stint

Charles Rhodes finished with 37 points and 19 rebounds and June Mar Fajardo added 12 points suiting up for San Miguel less than 24 hours after playing for Gilas Pilipinas, as the Beermen defeated NLEX 114-108 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at Cuneta Astrodome on Friday.

Chris Ross (15 points, 11 assists) and Alex Cabagnot (12 points, 10 assists) each finished with a double-double to help San Miguel raise its record to 6-1 and secure a quarterfinals berth.

Star, Meralco and TNT are also through to the next round

Rhodes scored 16 of his points in the 1st quarter, which San Miguel dominated 36-22.

NLEX made it interesting late in the 4th when it cut the deficit down to 104-96, but timely shots by Rhodes and his teammates kept the Road Warriors at bay the rest of the way.

Marcio Lassiter added 12 points for San Miguel, while Arwind Santos came off the bench to chip in 13.

Wayne Chism led NLEX with 22 points, while new recruits JR Quiñahan and Alex Mallari contributed 12 and 11, respectively.

It was NLEX's 9th straight loss.
