PBA slaps P115K fines on players in tune-up brawls

MANILA – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) fined 7 players who got involved in separate scuffles during a pair of tune-up matches ahead of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

A total of P115,000 in fines were meted out against the players “for court misconduct and misdemeanor during their respective tune-up games.”

Alaska Aces import William Walker was fined P20,000, while his team mate Gabby Espinas was penalized P5,000.

They were punished for clashing against Meralco’s Danny Ildefonso and Gary David, who were fined P20,000 each.

Meanwhile, GlobalPort’s Jondan Salvador and Mark Yee were fined P20,000 and P10,000 respectively for getting into a scuffle with San Miguel Beermen’s Junmar Fajardo and Arwind Santos.

Santos, likewise, was penalized P20,000, while Fajardo was cleared by PBA commissioner Chito Salud.

Both incidents took place last Tuesday at the Meralco Gym in Quezon City.
