MANILA, Philippines – The Meralco Bolts still have no import for the PBA Governor’s Cup, which begins this Sunday.
PBA.ph reported that Meralco initially acquired Devin Green, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers, but the import failed to meet the required height ceiling.
“He brought with him a doctor’s certification that he’s is 6-foot-5. However, when we measured him informally using the PBA measuring standard, his official height turned out to be 6-6,” said Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio.
The Bolts were supposed to get Green after their first choice Tim Pickett got sidelined by injury.
Gregorio said they need an import before the tournament begins.
“It’s good that we will play on the 23rd (Wednesday). We still have time to bring in a new guy,” Gregorio said.
The rest of the PBA clubs are now practicing with their reinforcements.
