TNT's Howell is best import; Castro claims best player award

MANILA, Philippines – Richard Howell of Talk 'N Text won the PBA Commissioner's Cup Best Import award, while his team mate, Jayson "The Blur" Castro pocketed the Best Player of the Conference (BPC) plum.

The individual awards were given before the start of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals Game 3 between Talk ‘N Text and San Mig Coffee.

Howell, who helped the Tropang Texters sweep their first 13 games of the conference, bested the Coffee Mixers’ James Mays, former Best Import Robert Dozier of Alaska, and former Meralco import Brian Butch.

Castro, on the other hand, edged out teammate Ranidel de Ocampo with 30.4 statistical points through game averages of 13.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists.

Other players who were strong candidates for the honor were Philippine Cup best player Junmar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer and Air21’s Asi Taulava.
